Paganism 2007

Sgula center, Moshav Beit Halevi. Curator: Hadar Maor Dagani

This exhibition explores the use of symbols through matter and colour. The exhibition brings up the second commandment “You shall not make for yourself a carved image…” (Exodus 20:4) The series of working tool artworks were created out of a wish for internal peace and concentration of thought. The series is made out of ten working tools, five are spiritual tools, and the other five are working tools which without them, any idea stays only in spirit. The Star of David, the perfect symbol of creation, is presented a moment before the union between the spirit and the matter, the sky and land, the male and female. The Star of David was made of iron and concrete, two stiff materials that embody infinite, exalted concepts. This is the symbol of the Jewish people, and I am, as a Jewish and Israeli sculptor, taking the liberty to use the Star of David and other symbols to get closer to the secrets of creation and the greatest creation - our universe.
